"Neon, Hosting Pharaoh"
18x24 oil on canvas
available in giclee $235.
also available in prints, mugs and t-shirts

This painting feels like Neon Blue hosted a party for a disgruntled Pharaoh. Never up to real fun and always berating any attempt to be light hearted. Poor Neon Blue, she is distressed but still knows in the back of her mind there is a better crowd to hang with.

This song I wrote a few years back seems appropriate for this painting.

"Finding My Eyes"

You think that you know everything...
But your face
your face
postpones the day.
Hidden behind shadows
of restless beings
of midnight scrapings
of an eminent emotional decay.

What are the chances
of a brighter future here?
A cyclone could not interrupt
such a future.

Your face
your eyes
know everything
or at least that's what you say.

I contemplate the hour
and design the art of superstition.
If I wield around these foretold measures
will you let me live?
OK?

You curse the smile
Your jealousy is so easily
provoked.
If I were to exclude
such transparent conspiring
I would never know.
But your eyes see everything
or so they say.

Little heartbeats of adoration
you swim around and lust for them.
Unmeasured words
Yet you're so certain
that every syllable
though unkind
sets afloat some sort of cure.

Chorus:
Oh hero
if we could only be like you
Oh hero
you haven't got a clue.

"Speak Of The Devil"
18x24 oil on canvas
available in giclee $235.
also available in prints, mugs & t-shirts

"Speak of the Devil is part of the "Walk On The Wild Side" series.
I love the whole idea of this painting. Out in New York somewhere in the dead of night... prowling. Is she running from or towards? and why? Up to you.

"Speak of the Devil"

a song:

1)
Where do you go
when you're not with me?
Who do you see
when you're not seeing me?
Who do you smile at
with those eyes... that I
wish I never knew?

2)
Who grew the flowers
in the vase on your table?
Who props your pillow
and strokes all your moods?
Who is the one
you stare off in the distance to?
Who is the one
you leave here for?

Chorus:
I weave a little token
a blanket made of smoke
as the colors touch each other
I remember
the fire

3)
Who do I run to
when the road leads black?
Where do I surface
when hell freezes over?
Bleeding out passions
that I knew
once
Well... speak of the devil
Sphere of the devil
oh Babe it's you

"Neon Blue" 18x24 oil on canvas
availble in giclee $235.
also available in prints, cards, mugs, and tshirts

"Walk On The Wild Side" series;

This series began in March 2005. There are a total of 8 paintings to this series... so far. This series is the first time I started painting again after moving from Kauai to Big Island. Our house was a fixer upper and in complete shambles. I painted surrounded by unpacked boxes in the living room. I had just ripped out all of the carpet and set a table to paint. I felt like I was going to go nuts if I could not paint. After putting the paint out on my easel I decided to get out a bunch of 18x24 canvas' and just try to play and have fun. I DID! I had a great time. I painted 7 paintings in one week I was having so much fun. I painted another one to add to the 7 in August 2005.
"Neon Blue" is like going to some crazy party where no one knows you yet everyone wants to. She took forever to get ready and when she got there she became secretive... not just to others... but to herself.

She matches a song I wrote once:

"Neon Blue"

1)
She seemed a walking wound
a howl inside the moon
her colors mingled to an empty space
a silent shattered tune
Such plans amoung us
we hardly recognized
our host of bright lights
had passed
and left her prime

Chorus:
Do you want to dance 'til noon
and fly across the moon?
Do you want to dance 'til noon
and follow Neon Blue?

and she cried
Hold me
hold me 'til my final hour
Hold me
hold me through the night

2)
My teeth chatter
a warm day cold
and in a moment
just for comfort
I reach for anything old
and hold it close
all those sentimental tunes
of Neon Blues

Chorus

******************************************************************************
and... this is the poem I wrote, from where I took the song:

"Neon Blue"

She seemed a walking wound
a howl inside the moon
and her colors mingled to an empty space

Such plans amoung us
we hardly recognized
that behind her eyes some place
the days had shattered for Neon Blue

Because sometimes she wore
the most spectacular smile
host of bright lights and famous faces
that she longed to know

My teeth chatter
a warm day cold
and in a moment
just for comfort
I reach for anything old
and hold it close
a sentimental tune - Neon Blue

Once in awhile
beneath the moon
I sit and think about
my dear Neon Blue
All there is about her
that makes my heart smile
I touch far beyond
the moments of weakness
the midnight howl
far beyond the shattered eyes

Do you want to dance 'til noon
of the following day?
Hold captive an admiring audience
of the famed?
My tears glisten
to the tune of the moon
I wish that I could give it all to you
dear Neon Blue
